New Features and Other Improvements

Cell Comment Feature for Templates and Reports

Feature ID: FD-37557

You can now add comments directly to cells in input and report templates, similar to the functionality available in Excel. This feature enables collaborative work on templates by allowing you to document changes, ask questions, and track discussions at the cell level.

To add a comment to a cell, select any data cell in a template with saved transactional data, and either click New Comment selection in the ribbon of the View tab or right-click the cell and select New Comment from the context menu. A popup window opens where you can type your comment. Post the comment by clicking the Post comment button (arrow). Once posted, the comment displays the username, cell reference, and timestamp. A comment indicator appears in the top-right corner of a commented cell, similar to Excel.

Managing Comments

You can manage your comments in the comment popup via the settings (the cog icon):

  • Edit: Modify your own comments after they have been posted
  • Delete: Remove the entire comment thread or specific replies within a thread
  • Resolve: Mark a comment conversation as resolved once the discussion or associated action is completed

You can also reply to existing comments and tag other users for direct notification via the text field in the comment pop-up. When you tag a user in a comment, that user will see the comment in their dashboard widget.

Comment Selections in the Ribbon

In the Comment section of the View tab in the ribbon, you can access the following comment management options:

  • New Comment: Add a comment to a selected cell
  • Delete Comment: Remove a comment thread or specific replies
  • Show Comments: Display all comments in the current sheet in a side panel with filtering capabilities

The Show Comments panel displays all comments in the active sheet in a side panel, along with their cell references. You can click any comment to navigate to its corresponding cell. The panel also includes filtering options that allow you to display only comments assigned to you, active comments, or resolved comments.

Comments on Report Templates

The comment feature is available not only on input sheets but also on report templates. The requirement is that you must have the complete data combination of unit, account, period, and document series to add a comment to a cell.

Limitations

Comments are not available on custom columns such as parameter management columns or comment-designated columns, as these do not have the required data combination. Additionally, comments are specific to the template combination you are using. If you open the same template with different selections, you'll see any comments associated with those selections and not comments from previous selections.

Dashboard Widget for Tagged Comments

Feature ID: FD-35495

A new Comments tab has been added to your dashboard in the Web Client. When another user tags you in a comment on a template, that comment appears in this widget, enabling you to see all comments directed to you at a glance.

You can click on any comment in the widget or use the Open button to navigate directly to the template where the comment is located. When you open a comment from the dashboard, the template loads automatically in a new tab, and the ribbon opens by default, allowing you to immediately view and reply to the comment.

Enhanced Data Uploader Email Notifications

Feature ID: FD-32604

Data uploader status emails now use an improved HTML format that provides clear information without overwhelming your email system. Previously, when data uploads contained errors, all error logs were sent in the email, which could result in excessively large emails that might exceed server limits.

With this enhancement, status emails now include:

  • The integration name, period, year, and timestamp of the data upload run
  • The status of the upload (successful, completed with errors, or fatal error)
  • For uploads with errors, the first three error logs are displayed in a formatted HTML layout

If you need to review additional error details beyond the first three, you can access the complete integration log files on your system. A note in the email directs you to contact your administrator or check the log files for more details.

This format keeps emails concise and manageable while still providing essential status and troubleshooting information.

Workflow Management and Audit Management as Default User Interface Tasks

Feature ID: FD-39150

Workflow Management and Audit Management tasks have been added as default User Interface tasks. You will now see these tasks automatically available when they have been assigned to our role:

  • Workflow Management is located under Basics and User Interface and Templates, enabling you to manage workflows.
  • Audit Management is located under Environment Management, providing access to audit trail functionality.

These tasks have no changes to their core functionality; they have simply been included as default items in the Default UI role for easier access.
